Meet the Seller
Launched in July 2022 by Holli and Jason, after 20 years of online reselling experience, Eluxe is a high-volume resale business specializing in women’s fashion and lifestyle goods.
Based in Minnesota, they now operate from warehouses in three states with a team of 46 employees.
Prior to Whatnot
They’d built their business across online marketplaces, achieving over $1M+ sales on both eBay and Poshmark.
They had a strong social presence, growing and nurturing a large reselling community on Instagram.
Despite strong sales, they felt they’d plateaued on other platforms which were becoming too transactional and difficult to scale.
Manual listing and fulfillment of orders was time consuming, limiting their productivity.
Their unsold inventory often sat for months, making it hard to liquidate unwanted stock quickly.
“Speed is everything on Whatnot. Buyers don’t want to watch someone wondering around looking for the next item to run—that kills the whole show.”
- Holli, Founder, Eluxe
When Considering Whatnot
With no live-streaming experience, Holli was nervous about being on camera and live selling.
Given they were already top sellers on eBay and Poshmark, they worried launching on a new platform might disrupt the business.
They didn’t know if they’d gain initial traction starting with no following.
Holli carefully studied other sellers in the category before launching to better understand how to effectively run a show.
“About 50% of our Whatnot buyers are resellers — it’s like a B2B supply chain.”
- Jason, Co-founder, Eluxe
“If I’m not live for two or three days, I start getting messages: ‘When are you coming back?’”
- Holli, Founder, Eluxe
Growing on Whatnot
Their first show cleared $1,500+ in old eBay/Poshmark stock—instantly demonstrating live selling’s potential.
Live auctions unlocked higher sales volume—they went from hosting weekly shows to multiple shows a day within a few months.
They quickly built a loyal community of both casual buyers and resellers—estimating ~50% of buyers purchase to resell.
Expanded from a two-person operation to 40 employees across warehouses in three states.
Now stream 100+ hours weekly, selling thousands of items per week and generating $2M+ in monthly sales.
“It took a ton of time and sweat initially, at least for the first six months or a year, to really get it to a point where we were consistently in the green.”
