Meet the Seller
Since launching in September 2023, Circlecityoc has grown from a family-run resale business into a powerhouse live selling operation—scaling from $20K per month on other marketplaces, to hitting $60K in a four-hour show on Whatnot.
Prior to Whatnot
They’d built a wholesale business processing 24 truckloads weekly through their warehouse.
They sold $20k per month on static marketplaces like Facebook, Poshmark, and eBay.
For some inventory (e.g. fashion) they lacked a good understanding of pricing and often mis-priced stock below market value.
Unsold stock from other platforms would sit taking up limited warehouse space.
“I don't think we had confidence that we could really make a living off of this. We were so unsure. Then before we knew it, we were doing three shows, four shows a week.”
- Ryan, Circle City OC
When considering Whatnot
They’d heard of live selling but doubted it would fit into their B2B model or replace warehouse revenue.
Researching Whatnot and connecting with established sellers helped them see live selling’s potential.
They had no experience shipping large volumes of online orders and expected a tough transition from physical storefront sales.
While they weren’t prepared for shipping at scale, they trusted they’d learn as they grew.
“We went from feeding local resellers to reaching a whole new audience on Whatnot. We became the first seller to hit $1M in Womenswear.”
Growing on Whatnot
They started strong by selling 150 pieces in one of their first shows.
Whatnot’s Auction format meant fashion items fetched higher prices—it’s now one of their highest-margin categories.
Daily shows helped build loyal customers and sales momentum.
Within 8 months, they’d moved from warehouse wholesale to 100% of sales on Whatnot.
They now operate six category storefronts on Whatnot and ship 2,000+ orders per day.
Ryan and Jose still believe live shopping is in it’s infancy and aspire to have 30 channels on Whatnot.
