Meet the Seller
What began with Aaron discovering a Wayne Gretzky rookie card in his father’s safe deposit box has grown into a next-generation card shop in Cooper City, Florida.
Launched in 2021, AAmintcards now operates from both a brick-and-mortar store and warehouse, employing over 30 people.
Prior to Whatnot
After the Wayne Gretzky rookie card sold for $2,500, they started buying and reselling graded cards on eBay, quickly becoming a Top Rated Seller.
In 2021 they opened a 650 sq ft shop that soon became a PSA submission center and trusted hub for Topps, Panini, and Upper Deck allocations
Wax sales, both in-store and wholesale, were their main revenue driver during the initial hobby boom.
Despite some success, they were vulnerable to slow in-store sales, price swings on singles, and haggling customers.
Rapid growth left them squeezed for space, they ran all operations, grading, hiring, and even lunch breaks from the same back table in their office.
“You’re not going to make $1m dollars immediately, do this in a way that is financially sustainable”
- Aaron, Founder, AAmintcards
When considering Whatnot
More and more customers started to bring in cards they’d bought on Whatnot to show and sell—suggesting it was becoming a big part of the Hobby.
The problem was, despite strong retail and social followings, they had no streaming experience and no following on Whatnot.
The team debated the risk of $1 starts on sealed product, knowing they might make losses.
However, they did appreciate that sellers could auction cards in seconds, which would help them shift more volume.
“We’re now spending hundreds of thousands of dollars a week sourcing new product”
- Aaron, Founder, AAmintcards
“Consistency is 100% key. You should be running shows as much as you possibly can.”
- Aaron, Founder, AAmintcards
They launched themed, entertainment-driven shows and built up to streaming seven days a week.
Repacks fast became a standout product, consistently selling out and boosting margins.
Investing in more premium cards helped Break spots grow from $60–$80 to $700–$800, boosting their dollars earned per hour.
Heavy investment in production, OBS, and dedicated staff ensured a professional, enjoyable viewer experience.
Today, roughly half of their business runs through Whatnot.
Growing on Whatnot
Going live more often, and for longer periods of time helped them drive sales. By week six, they were averaging 10 hours per day.
“We’ve got to a stage where things sell so quickly that we’re always running out of inventory.”
Aaron, Founder, AAmint
